Welcome to Acorn Tutoring & Advocacy
In my 10 years of teaching special education (and many more years working and volunteering in classrooms), I’ve provided specialized, individualized instruction for students of all ages and abilities. I am passionate about helping my students recognize their many strengths and teaching easy-to-use strategies to make effective progress.
My advocacy services empower parents and families as they navigate the IEP process. I am dedicated to ensuring that students receive the services they need to be successful in school and beyond.
My tutoring model provides direct instruction in skills and strategies and targeted interventions for struggling students using texts selected to keep your child engaged and excited about reading, writing, and math.
I’m also offering book clubs to help students develop their reading comprehension and social skills as they explore interesting and exciting texts across genres. Reading is fun, but it’s better with friends!
In addition to tutoring and advocacy, I work part-time for Effective Effort Consulting in Norwell, Massachusetts. I am grateful to work with an exceptional team and support students as an executive functioning and literacy coach.
Please don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions. I can be reached at acornliteracytutoring@gmail.com.
